Eligibility/Enrollment

Enrollment begins here with the online application for Lafayette Parish residents who are 4 years old on or before September 30th.

Once enrollment opens, it continues for the remainder of the school year.

Registration

After enrollment, a detailed email and/or letter will be sent to you to register. All registration for Lafayette Parish Pre-K takes place at the Vermilion Conference Center. All information must be accurate and verifiable. If a student is selected for admission based on application information that is later determined to be false, the student may lose his admission into the program.

  • Original Birth Certificate
  • Original Social Security Card
  • Current Shot Record with expiration date
  • Parent(s) Proof of Residency - current gas, water or electric bill
  • Parent(s) Proof of Income - 2 current check stubs, Food Stamp Printout, Social Security/Disability, etc.

Fees

Funded by LA4, 8G and Title 1 grants, this program provides daily education to four year olds in Lafayette Parish which follows the school system calendar. The grants first service children from at-risk families on a per child basis. Any remaining seats that are available are offered to other families with a tuition fee of $375 per month for 10 months.

Services for Children with Special Needs

An educational evaluation is offered for children ages 3 through 5 years not enrolled in Kindergarten who may have special needs. Children are serviced in homes, early learning centers and in the school system. Contact Early Childhood Special Education for more information: 337-521-7135.

Lafayette Parish Early Childhood Community Network

In order to improve Early Childhood care and education throughout the parish, the school system, NSECD, Type III Early Learning Centers (Childcare), Head Start and Early Head Start have joined together to raise the level of expectations and birth-to-five standards to promote kindergarten readiness.
